WILLIAM LLOYD GARRISON

CAUSES

Garrison met Benjamin Lundy, who was an editor for an anti-slavery newspaper, which could've introduced him to abolitionist ideas.

EFFECTS

He created the newspaper "The Liberator", an anti-slavery newspaper. He joined the American Colonization Society, which wanted to send slaves back to Africa to the colony of Liberia.

NAT TURNER

CAUSES

Turner was a slave, who of course, did not want to be a slave anymore and demanded change.

EFFECTS

He led Nat Turner's rebellion, which was the only effective slave rebellion in U.S. history. His rebellion led to many anti-abolitionists using it as an example of why slaves shouldn't be freed and enacted stricter slave codes.
