WHAT?

Utopian communities are communities that aim to create its own idea of what an ideal society is.

CAUSES

Many felt pressured under the newly urbanized and industrialized society and felt like they needed to object social norms of American society.

EFFECTS

The communities influence many different religious groups and promoted the idea that democratic government is unfair, which is still a popular idea today. However, most of these communities were unsuccessful in practice.
